Mother's Month

Mother's Day weekend was one of the many stand-out highlights of the month of May. The whole weekend was filled with special moments that exemplified my amazing life as the mother of this little family of ours.  Actually, it is June and all, but guess what? My Mother's Day just ended! My Mother's Day present from Lou was tickets to see the Lumineers. We went Tuesday night, and it was SUCH a great show.  So here's the whole Mother's  Day Month recap.

Back in May, the celebration started with tacos with Lou for lunch at Nada.

Josie insisted I buy myself this shirt for Mother's Day...at Whole Foods (which we all think is funny, because it's totally my favorite shirt now).

Every mom's wish:

Sweet Zo-Zo had a birthday party on Saturday & we all enjoyed celebrating with her!

"waiting for cake"

Josie and I spent the afternoon at a special Mom & Me glass pendant class at Brazee Street School of Glass (as many of you know - a favorite Schneider hangout.)

We decided to make enough for end-of-the-year teacher gifts (that turned out GREAT)!

As you can see, Josie was really concentrating (and still wearing puppy paint) -

The girls were whooped so we had a list downtime. Sweet Bea cuddled up behind Josie, which we all thought was the sweetest thing ever.

Then it was Washington Park time - where a kids festival promised all the bounce house action we could handle.

Downer alert: Josie had an asthma attack in the bounce house. It was only the 2nd one she's ever had. We didn't quite realize what had happened until later when we got home and gave her a breathing treatment. Needless to say, she is now scheduled for a summer trip to the an asthma specialist so we can keep her safe. Poor little thing bounced herself out!

Back to Happy Thoughts:

Gelato!

And skipping and dancing and being free while listening to live reggae!

On Sunday morning - actual Mother's Day - I got to sleep in while the girls made me breakfast and brought it to bed! They promptly ate their pancakes, and then mine, which was too perfect.

Josie made this adorable hand-print art at school. We adore all the different hair styles of the world!

I was very surprised by Lou's Mother's Day present!

Then, we spent Mother's Day hanging out in the yard, planting tulips, reading books and being together!

Fast-forward about a month, and Lou & I had our "Mother's Day Date Night" this week. We started at our favorite restaurant - Riverside Korean - where we were pleasantly surprised still was amazing, even without our beloved Bulgogi (4+ months meatless are we!).

Then it was off to Riverbend for one heckuva beautiful night and awesome concert!

We started with J Roddy Walston & The Business (who DD would LOVE):

Our seats were in the orchestra pit - which is really *the* way to see a show!

Then it was the Cold War Kids.

(And my crappy iphone 4 reverse camera.)

A packed house behind us at Riverbend!

Then, the LUMINEERS!!!!

You may know them by their runaway hit "ho! hey!" which is, no doubt, a great song but there's so much more to them than that!

They put on an amazing show! For Phish-heads like us, that's saying a lot, because we have a pretty high bar for live music. If you ever get a chance to see these guys, check 'em out.  (This was the first in a line of concerts we are really looking forward to this summer - Edward Sharpe & Magnetic Zeros, Grizzly Bear, and Neutral Milk Hotel. I love live music with Sweet Lou!)

What a night!

What a Mother's Day!
