My hometown county fair

I have some really fun memories of "Fair Week" growing up. A lot of my friends did 4-H, so the week of the fair was a big deal for everyone. I guess I just sort of assumed growing up that the week of the county fair was a local holiday in every corner of the country, and it's a little sad that it isn't. Because really - where else is it totally cool to eat "fried cheese on a stick," pay $4 to ride a "live pony," go for a world record for most rotations in a single ride with your kids, practice target shooting with a park ranger, get stuck at the top of a ferris wheel one to many times,  buy a box of salt water taffy that you watched them pull and cheer with a full bandstand when a woman wins the demolition derby?!

Needless to say, we were ALL IN when Grandma & DD suggested a weekend trip home to hang at the Greene County Fair. Who knew we'd end up closing the place down at 10pm!  Enjoy the highlights, then promise me you'll find yourself a fair next year!
